Core social mechanic
When Parafolk gather, the game draws a hand of Together Cards based on their personalities, emotions, and relationships. The hand size depends on group size: 3 cards for 1-3 People, 2 cards for 4-5 People, 1 card for 6+ People. Each card has a weight that determines how likely it is to appear, and some cards require specific personality traits or emotional states.

Together Cards are the core social interaction system in Paralives. When two or more Parafolk are together, the game draws a hand of cards representing possible conversation topics and actions. Players pick a card to steer the interaction. There are 442 cards across 13 categories in Early Access build 1.
There are 13 Together Card categories: General (130 cards), Flirty (89), Mean (48), Skills (35), Introduction (33), Baby (24), Funny (23), Share Tips (19), Complain (17), Relationship Milestone (9), Get to Know (6), Request (5), and Brag (4).
Each Together Card has a weight tier that affects how likely it is to appear. Normal cards have weight 1 and 1x NPC initiative. Important cards have weight 2 and 5x NPC initiative. Very Important cards have weight 3 and 10x NPC initiative. Extremely Important cards have weight 4 and 100x NPC initiative.
Yes. Some Together Cards require specific personality traits. For example, certain Introduction cards are only available to Parafolk with the Overjoyed, Serious, or Gloomy vibe traits. Personality-gated cards create more authentic social interactions tied to each character's identity.
After a Together Card is used, there is a 180-second (3-minute) cooldown before that same card can appear again. Some cards ignore or override this cooldown. The Together bar takes 20 minutes to fill for known Parafolk and only 5 minutes for strangers.
