Every species grows through 4 stages; full growth takes 15 to 33 minutes depending on the tree. The loot depends on when you chop: a young tree only returns its sapling and a few sticks, a half-grown tree drops some logs, and a mature tree gives the full yield of 7-9 logs plus leaves and a sapling. Sticks only ever drop from young trees.
- Chop - use an axe. The loot table depends on the growth stage - mature trees give by far the most logs.
- Plant - place saplings on open ground, not on farmland. Oak and Pine saplings only take root in the winter biome.
- Automate - the Forester bot chops and replants trees automatically within 3.5 m of its dock.
