Exploration Tips

Your airship is the key to reaching new islands. Upgrade the battery and engine to travel further. Winter islands require hull and resistance upgrades to handle storms. Each island has its own day/night audio ambience and weather patterns that affect solar output and crop growth. The weather station helps you plan flights around incoming storms.

Frequently asked

  • How do I reach new islands in Solarpunk?
Build an airship at the Dock, then fly between islands. Upgrading the airship extends how far you can travel - the outer winter islands are gated behind upgrades.
  • What are the different biome types?
The world has two physical biomes: the default biome and the snow biome on the outer ring. The wiki additionally labels the two spawn islands as starter islands. In the snow biome only Oak and Pine trees grow, and some structures cannot be built there.
  • Which island is best for a main base?
Golden Mid and The Land are the largest temperate islands with abundant resources and flat terrain. Golden Mid is centrally located, making it ideal for a main base with transport drone connections.
  • How many islands are there in Solarpunk?
There are 16 floating islands: 2 starter islands, 7 temperate islands and 7 winter islands - three of them (Start Island, Donut Island, Snow Cave) never appear on the in-game map.
