Fishing in Graveyard Keeper 2

6 fishing spots, 22 fish and 3 baits, with the catch chance of every fish by bait and time of day.

The Keeper's work22

How a catch works

  1. 1

    Bait

The bait window only offers baits that at least one fish at this spot takes. 4 fish bite with no bait; the rest only on a specific bait. One bait is used per cast.

  2. 2

    The roll

Weight x bait multiplier x day or night multiplier x fish left in the spot, compared across every fish at the spot. A fish whose stock is gone cannot be caught until it restocks.

  3. 3

    The bite

When the bobber dips, the bite has to be struck before the bite window closes. Each fish has its own window: Roach has the longest, Celestial Salmon and Swamp Ghost the shortest.

  4. 4

    Reeling

Pulling gains line while Farming mastery outweighs the fish's pull - its fight strength times how hard it is resisting at that moment. A better rod lets the line take more strain, and the Fisherman perk lowers every fish's fight strength.

  5. 5

    Stock and restock

Each spot holds 1 to 5 of each fish and restocks them one at a time. The 4 legendary fish take 5 to 10 times as long to restock as the others.

The fishing spots

4 fish live at the Inquisition Base spot; the bait window offers no bait and breadcrumb bait. Chances below are for a full spot - each catch removes one fish until it restocks.

Bait

Fish take 3 baits: Breadcrumb Bait, Insect Bait and Live Bait. Crucian, Frog, Gudgeon and Roach also bite on an empty hook; every legendary fish only takes Live Bait.

Fishing rods

Fishing needs a rod and at least one level of Farming mastery. The rod's line bonus is added to Farming mastery when line tension is worked out, so a better rod snaps less often on a fish that fights hard.

Fishing questions

Why does the spot say there are no fish left?

Every spot holds 1 to 5 of each fish (the stock is listed per spot above), and each catch removes one. The spot restocks one fish at a time.

Does the time of day matter?

For 11 of the 22 fish. A fish marked for day has half the weight at night, and the reverse for night fish; the rest are the same around the clock. The spot tables above show both.

Which fish sell for the most?

Eel (1 silver 92 bronze), Swamp Ghost (1 silver 54 bronze) and Trout (1 silver 40 bronze), sold to the Fish Stand. No trader buys the 4 legendary fish: Mythic Carp, Kraken Jr, Celestial Salmon and Elder Catfish. Each one only takes Live Bait, and the first catch unlocks its recipe: Fried golden carp, Kraken steak, Heavenly salmon and Elder's meal.

What does the Fisherman perk do?

It lowers every fish's fight strength: Pike's drops from 9 to 6. Fish Filleter doubles the fillets each fish cuts into at the Kitchen Table (Pike: 4 to 8).

How it works

Every cast rolls one fish from what the spot holds right now. A fish's chance is its weight, times the multiplier the bait gives it (nothing, if it ignores that bait), times its day or night multiplier, times how many of it are still in the spot - divided by the same sum for every fish there.

An unbaited cast at the Inquisition Base spot is a Roach 98.9% of the time

Roach has a weight of 1,000 at the Inquisition Base and Village spots, against 5 to 10 for every other fish there, so an unbaited cast at the Inquisition Base spot lands a Roach 98.9% of the time by day while the spot's 2 Roach last. Roach takes no bait at all, so any bait takes it out of the roll entirely.
