Dimetrodon taming calculatorKnockout
To tame the Dimetrodon, you need to knock it unconscious first. Tranq Arrows, Tranq Darts, and Shocking Tranq Darts all work. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 5/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.

More about taming the Dimetrodon
The results below show total taming time, effectiveness, and bonus levels for the Dimetrodon at your selected level and food. Higher-quality foods yield more bonus levels.
The table below shows how many hits from each torpor weapon are needed to knock out the Dimetrodon at different levels. Always pace your shots. Torpor takes time to apply, and over-shooting can be lethal.
To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Dimetrodon first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Argentavis to airlift it into a pre-built trap.
Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Dimetrodon. Your options are Narcotics (40 Torpor), Bio Toxin (80 Torpor, best efficiency), or Narcoberries (7.5 Torpor, cheapest but slowest). With Torpor draining at 5/s, don't wait until the bar is nearly empty to apply narcotics.
Use the torpor and starve timers to track your Dimetrodon tame in real time. Torpor monitoring prevents premature wakeups. The starve timer is for the starve-tame method - let Food drop, then load all kibble at once to avoid waste.
Found throughout the ARKs, the Dimetrodon is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It belongs to the Breeding category.
Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Dimetrodon brings decent hitting power to the table. The Dimetrodon has 350 base Health - reasonably durable. With 300 base Stamina, the Dimetrodon has moderate endurance. Weight capacity starts at 250, giving it generous inventory space.
You'll need to knock the Dimetrodon unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. For best results, use Regular Kibble - it gives the highest taming efficiency.
Once tamed, the Dimetrodon is primarily used for resource harvesting, excelling at gathering specific materials. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 30°C and 34°C. Defeating one in the wild grants 4 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.08 Element plus 0 Element per level.
