Show details
Enter the number of stats the species has. This is needed as the more stats, the more spread out the available points are. ARK: Survival Ascended rolls wild level-ups across 6 stats (or 5 for water species without oxygen). Unlike Survival Evolved, ASA does not distribute levels into Movement Speed, so only these two options apply.
Stat distribution
How stat distribution works
In ARK: Survival Ascended, wild creatures receive a fixed number of level-ups equal to their level minus one. Each level-up is assigned at random to one of the creature's mutable stats. With 6 stats, every level-up has exactly a 1-in-6 chance of landing in any given stat.
The number of level-ups that end up in one specific stat therefore follows a binomial distribution - the same math that describes how many heads you get when flipping a biased coin many times. The tool draws this distribution for you and highlights the common thresholds people compare against: the average roll, the top 10%, the top 1% and the top 0.1%.
For levels above roughly 40 the tool switches to a normal approximation, which is visually indistinguishable from the exact distribution and much faster to compute. For lower levels the exact binomial formula is used so the stair-step shape is preserved.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the stat evaluator used for?
The stat evaluator estimates how good a wild creature's stats are by comparing them against the global distribution. Use it to filter out low-rolls and decide which wilds are worth taming.
How many mutable stats does a creature have?
ARK creatures have 6 mutable stats: Health, Stamina, Oxygen, Food, Weight, and Melee Damage. Movement Speed and other stats are not mutable on most creatures.
Why are my stats never exactly matching the predicted level?
Wild stat distribution is randomized within tolerances, so individual creatures may roll slightly above or below the expected level for their tier. Use the percentile rankings to compare against the population.
What does 'Top 0.1%' mean in the evaluator?
Top 0.1% means the creature's stat is in the top one-thousandth of all wild rolls - an exceptional stat worth preserving for breeding lines.
Does this tool work for tamed and bred creatures?
Currently the evaluator is built for wild creature stats only. Tamed and bred creatures inherit and mutate stats differently, so use the breeding calculator instead.
